With traditional project delivery, you would manage separate contracts with your designer and contractor. But with Design-Build, you’ll manage only one contract with J.A. Lott Design & Associates, while we collaborate with trusted, expert contractors who will help us transform your vision into reality.
We also believe a person’s space should be a reflection of who they are. This is why we take a people-first approach to design. When we understand who you are, your unique lifestyle, and your vision, we’ll bring that vision to life in a design that is entirely you. Within your new space, everything will feel easier.
Finally, we believe the process can and should be fun! While there will be many steps to take and choices to make, we’ll always be there to guide you — and we’ll enjoy the collaboration and make great memories along the way.
Every project begins with a conversation in which we get to know you, and you get to know us. We’ll listen intently as you share your goals, desires, and vision for your space, laying the foundation for the project. Then, we’ll head into the programming phase, where we’ll take inventory of the current space to understand its capabilities. Next, we’ll present schematics — sketches, ideas, mockups — that bridge your vision with the capabilities of the space, and we’ll work with you to finalize a design concept. From there, it’s time to start transforming the space. We’ll join you in shopping for materials, and we’ll begin the construction management process. We see the project through to the final sweep of the broom, and when we’re done, you can sit back, relax, and breathe easy in your new space.
As Principal Designer of J.A. Lott Design & Associates, I bring an impressive breadth of expertise and experience to the table. My interior design work has spanned numerous industries throughout my 40+ year career, including arts and entertainment, medical, commercial, tenant space planning, and residential. The diversity of my experience has given me a creative edge and a knack for finding innovative solutions to any design challenges I encounter. I find this work to be deeply rewarding. Nothing makes my soul feel more fulfilled than knowing I’ve been able to help someone feel truly at home in their space — than seeing their joyful reactions to the transformation I helped them achieve.
As Partner and Manager of J.A. Lott Design & Associates, I collaborate with Jan and our clients on both the logistical and creative sides of the design process. My life’s passion is painting, and once upon a time, I planned to go into art education. Life took me on an unexpected journey into psychology — including three years as a Certified Gestalt Therapist in private practice — but my love for art has come full-circle in the work I do today. Color theory comes as naturally to me as breathing. I lend this intuitive knowledge to the design process, partnering with Jan to help each client compose a color palette that reflects their unique personality. Ultimately, collaborating with clients and getting to know them on that personal level is my favorite part of the work.
